IT for Hospitality in Central Oregon
Restaurants, hotels, breweries, tasting rooms, event venues and short-term rentals: a point-of-sale that stays up through the Friday rush, guest Wi-Fi that doesn't talk to your business network, and remote properties you can manage from town. Local IT support that answers evenings and weekends when hospitality actually runs.
- ⚡ Same business day response
- 🌙 After-hours live-ops support (POS, locks, Wi-Fi)
Based in Redmond, serving Bend, Sunriver, Sisters, Prineville, Madras and the rest of Central Oregon.
Hospitality IT isn't 9-to-5
Your busiest hours are the hours a regular IT shop is at home. A Friday rush, a Saturday wedding, a Tuesday check-in, a late arrival at a vacation rental. When a card reader freezes or guest Wi-Fi goes down, there's no window to wait for a quote. Evolution IT Services supports hospitality businesses across Central Oregon with written response-time commitments, remote fixes most of the time, and someone to call when a system that touches guests breaks after hours.
We don't replace your POS or your property management system - those vendors know their software. We make sure the computer, network, card reader, printer, backup and update process around them all work together so your team isn't stuck troubleshooting between tickets or check-ins.
What we handle for hospitality businesses
Point-of-sale that stays up
Toast, Square, Clover, Lightspeed, Aloha, Micros - whatever POS you run, we make sure the computer, card reader, kitchen printer, cash drawer and offline-mode fallback all behave. Payment devices live on their own network segment so a guest device can't see them.
Guest Wi-Fi, done safely
Business-grade UniFi access points covering the whole property. Guest Wi-Fi lives on its own VLAN so devices can't reach your POS, servers or back-office computers. Captive portal with your branding, a bandwidth cap per guest, and a quick onboarding splash for Wi-Fi codes.
Smart locks, cameras and controls
Front doors, vacation rentals, cold storage, service entrances - keyed or coded, auditable and remote. Cameras you can actually review when something happens. HVAC, lighting and sign timers that keep running when the Wi-Fi blips.
Property management systems
Opera, Mews, Cloudbeds, Little Hotelier, OwnerRez, Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify, iGMS - we set up and maintain the computers, printers and network behind them, and we coordinate with your PMS vendor's support when their system needs changes we can't make for you.
Reliable internet and backup paths
Enough bandwidth for guests, staff and payment devices without one of them starving the others. A secondary internet connection (fibre + LTE/5G cellular failover is common for us) so a cable cut doesn't close the day. See backup internet for rural Central Oregon.
Microsoft 365 for the back office
Email, shared calendars, booking confirmations and the back-office shared drive, with mobile access for GMs and owners. New hires added in a day, departures off the same hour.

PCI DSS for taking card payments
Any business that takes a card has to meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). For small hospitality businesses on a hosted POS and card reader, the questions on the annual Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) are mostly about network isolation, patch and password hygiene and who has access.
What we do for your PCI picture:
- Payment devices on their own VLAN, separate from guest Wi-Fi and back-office computers
- Default passwords changed on every router, switch, access point, printer and camera
- Firmware and system updates applied on a schedule your POS vendor supports
- Unique logins for every staff member on back-office computers; shared accounts removed
- Multi-factor sign-in on email, cloud storage and remote-access tools
- Documented inventory of the equipment that touches card data, so your SAQ is a half-hour of filling in known answers instead of a day of guessing
We don't act as a PCI auditor and we can't make a business "PCI compliant" on our own. We can make sure the technical ground under your SAQ is in order and point you at the right questions.
Short-term rentals: run a portfolio from your phone
Whether you're managing one house on Airbnb or thirty across Central Oregon, the IT story is the same: locks have to open on time, Wi-Fi has to work for the guest who just arrived at 11 pm, and the office computer has to be able to pull booking data without a cross-town drive. We set up:
- Smart locks (Yale, August, Schlage Encode, Igloo) with auto-generated guest codes tied to your PMS reservation
- UniFi gear in each property so you can see signal, utilization and outages from one dashboard
- Noise-level monitoring (Minut, NoiseAware) where city rules or HOAs require it, without microphones in guest spaces
- Cellular backup on properties with unreliable broadband, so a cable issue in the neighbourhood doesn't blow a check-in
- Owner-portal access and reports pulled automatically into a shared drive the owner, cleaner and manager can all find
Breweries, tasting rooms and craft beverage
Breweries and tasting rooms have POS at the bar, a tap-and-fill area that may run its own tablet, inventory in a brewery management system, and (increasingly) an online store, a mug club portal and an app. We've built the IT behind several Central Oregon brewery operations and know how to make the fiddly parts talk to each other:
- Taproom POS, kitchen printer, cash drawer, card readers and tip handling
- Tasting-room iPads kept on their own secure network, out of the public Wi-Fi
- Barrel-aging, cold-storage and keg-tracking sensors with alerts
- Office computers for the cellar manager and bookkeeper, with shared files for recipes, batch records and distribution contracts
- Guest Wi-Fi that supports music streaming, loyalty apps and the inevitable "can I get the Wi-Fi password?" without exposing anything else
Common questions
Do you answer after hours? Our rush is weekends.
Yes - for live-ops systems. We include after-hours support in managed plans for the systems that touch guests: POS, payment devices, guest Wi-Fi, smart locks, cameras and property management. Office computers and non-urgent requests get queued for the next business day, which keeps the after-hours plan affordable.
Will you work with our POS and PMS vendor?
That's a core part of the job. We handle the hardware, network, backups and local workstations; your POS or PMS vendor handles their software. When their software needs changes we can't make, we work the ticket with their support directly so you aren't stuck in the middle.
Can you cover multiple properties or locations?
Yes. Our tooling is designed around multi-site businesses - each property's network, cameras and locks appear in one dashboard, so you don't have to log in to ten different systems to see what's happening.
How do you handle PCI compliance?
We set up the network isolation, password hygiene, patching and documented inventory that your Self-Assessment Questionnaire asks for. We're not a Qualified Security Assessor and we don't attest to compliance - that's your SAQ to sign - but we make sure the technical ground is defensible.
What about seasonal staff?
Common for Central Oregon hospitality. We can batch-add seasonal accounts before the season, batch-disable them after, and keep audit records of who had access when - something payment card auditors appreciate.
